Orientation Statement from the Student Affairs Department
Greetings and welcome to Daystar University.
The Student Affairs Department is responsible for student life on Campus outside the lecture room while at the same time working closely with academic staff.
The Student Affairs Department falls under the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic, Research and Student Affairs.
We take care of student welfare on both Campuses in Nairobi and at the Athi River Main Campus. Each of our two campuses is headed by an Associate Dean of Students.
The Student Affairs Department is home for several services that aim to give our students a quality University experience. The services we offer include the following:
Student Placement and International Relations Office (SPIRO)
The SPIRO office helps International students to familiarise and settle down in Kenya as a foreign student. We give international students a tour of the City of Nairobi and other places. SPIRO also helps students to find internship opportunities and job placement upon completing their studies.
Upon arrival, we shall help you to meet the Kenya Immigration Office to familiarise you with government regulations on acquisition of Student Visa and other information needed for a comfortable stay in Kenya.
Sports & Athletics (Daystar Falcons)
For Sports lovers, we welcome you to join Daystar Falcons for the sport of your choice both indoor and outdoor across various Teams for both men and women. At Daystar, we take pride in having produced some of the best sports personalities in the world!
Daystar University Students Association (DUSA)
The Student Affairs Department is also home for the Student Government – the Daystar University Students Association (DUSA). DUSA is an integral arm of the University governance which has many Clubs and Associations to help you nurture your talent and social life.
Student Counselling & Wellness
Life is full of many challenges. We have a Team of dedicated professional Counsellors to walk with you!
This section also helps those with any personal struggles through our Daystar Compassion & Care Centre (DCCC). We are committed to ensuring that no distraction drags anyone behind in their academic journey.
Resident Tutors & Hostel Support
Through the University Management, the Student Affairs Department attaches teaching Faculty to student hostels to serve as Resident Tutors. In this capacity, Resident Tutors provide a home environment to student residents in each hostel. They are available to listen to you at any time and guide you with any life issue. Resident Tutors work closely with Resident Administrators (RAs). Resident Tutors include Mrs. Ann Wachira and Fred Ogore.
