Our mandate, direction and institutional priorities.
Mandate and purpose
The Directorate of Academic Affairs oversees the implementation of academic decisions besides ensuring effective teaching and learning for all academic programmes. Operating under the Office of the DVC-ARSA, the Directorate keeps a sharp focus on the following four academic pillars of the University:
Quality teaching and learning
Quality research and scholarship
Quality and qualified faculty
Student excellence
The above will be achieved through the following activities:
Schools: Work with Schools to review/develop new/implement programmes, monitor teaching and recommend appropriate actions
Quality: Work with Directorate of Quality to facilitate approval of programmes, develop course delivery tools/resources and implementation of such tools/resources
ICT: Work with ICT and other related departments to ensure smooth learning by providing or advising the departments on appropriate decisions
Research: Work with Directorate of Postgraduate and Research to promote research in the University.
Students: Work with student bodies, such as DUSA and Dean of students to develop mechanisms to ensure student satisfaction.
Collaborations: Establish/facilitate collaborations with like-minded institutions to promote quality education.

Strategic pillars
Quality teaching and learning
Work with Schools to review and develop new academic programmes, monitor teaching quality, and recommend appropriate actions to ensure effective learning across all programmes.
Quality research and scholarship
Work in collaboration with the Directorate of Postgraduate and Research to promote, facilitate, and elevate research and scholarship across the University.
Quality and qualified faculty
Work with the Directorate of Quality Assurance to facilitate programme approvals, develop course delivery tools and resources, and ensure faculty adhere to required teaching standards.
Student excellence
Partner with student bodies such as DUSA and the Dean of Students, as well as ICT and external partners, to build mechanisms that enhance learning tools and ensure overall student satisfaction.
